Lone Soldiers Receive Support – Near and Far

In light of the recent terror attack at Jerusalem’s First Station, the Jewish community in both Israel and San Diego have banded together to show their support. Israel National News was able to capture this great community in action with Jewish Agency Chairman Yitzhak Herzog planting a tree with Hagit Cohen-Hamo, whose son, Ori, was injured during this attack.

The lone soldiers are not alone – the Jewish Agency and the Merage Foundation Israel support these young olim (immigrants) through the Wings for Lone Soldiers project, together with Keren Hayesod and other donors, from the moment they arrive in Israel, throughout their military service, and even after their release from the army.

Wings provides lone soldiers with the tools they need to enter Israeli society as confident and active citizens. With more than 3,000 new immigrants serving in the IDF each year, this program is crucial in ensuring these young individuals have the resources and support needed to be successful Israeli citizens.
